Does Cartfolio track me or sell my data?

No. There's no account to create, no analytics SDK, and no ad network watching what you do in the app. Your shopping list, cart, receipts, and history are stored only on your device. See the Privacy Policy for the one exception, spelled out in full.

If there's no account, what happens if I get a new phone?

Nothing transfers automatically today, the same way a note in a local-only notes app wouldn't. That's the tradeoff of not having a server that holds your data: nobody else has it either. Back up your device with iCloud or iTunes as you normally would, and app data comes along with it.

Why does the Deals tab need my postal or zip code at all?

Flyer prices are regional, Metro and Loblaws pricing in Toronto isn't the same as Walmart pricing in Texas, so the app needs to know roughly where you are to show relevant deals. That's the postal/zip code you type in, and it's the only thing about you that leaves the device.

What is Cartfolio?

Cartfolio is a free shopping list app that helps you organize your grocery shopping, see real weekly flyer deals matched to your list, track expenses, and maintain a shopping history. It combines a fast list with receipt management and expense tracking, all without an account.

Which devices support Cartfolio?

Cartfolio is available for iOS devices. It's built using SwiftUI, ensuring a native experience on iPhone.

How do I add items to my shopping list?

There are several ways to add items:

1. Type a name in the search bar and hit return to add it instantly, like jotting it on a sticky note
2. Browse the categorized catalog and tap an item to add it to your cart
3. Add custom personal items through the "Mine" section
4. Long-press an item to specify a quantity or weight

How do the weekly deals work?

The Deals tab pulls real flyer prices from local stores (currently 170+ stores across the US and Canada), refreshed once a day. Matching deals show up as a small price tag right on your list items, and you can browse by item or by store, favorite deals to keep an eye on, and search any postal or zip code, not just a handful of big cities, so nearby stores sort first.

Can I customize the app's appearance?

Yes! Cartfolio offers:

• Dark mode support
• Normal, medium, and large list text sizes
• A choice of accent colors

How does the receipt tracking work?

When completing a shopping trip, you can:

1. Add receipt information including store name and amount
2. Take photos of your receipts for record-keeping
3. View receipt history and total spending by store
4. Track expenses across different shopping trips

All of it stays on your device, the same as everything else except the Deals fetch.

Why aren't my receipt images saving?

Make sure:

1. You've granted the app permission to access your camera and photos
2. You have sufficient storage space on your device
3. You're running the latest version of the app

Why aren't my frequently bought items showing up?

Frequently bought items are calculated based on your purchase history. Make sure:

1. You've completed several shopping trips
2. The item has been purchased at least 3 times
3. You're marking items as purchased when completing a trip

Why don't I see any deals?

Pull down on the Deals tab to fetch the latest flyers. Type your postal or zip code under "Set your location" to search your exact area; if nothing turns up right away, nearby regions still show below while that search is being fetched.
